about

"Polluted Sea" is the first single to be released from the Bon Scotts New album "We All Die At The Hands Of C.G.I.

Melbourne seven piece, The Bon Scotts, are not an AC/DC covers band. They play a distinctively clamorous ramshackle folk-pop that will have you toe tapping and singing along to catchy choruses unawares. Theirs is an infectious blend of playful cynicism and youthful fancy, which has delighted audiences nationally and abroad. To date, The Bon Scotts have received comparisons to Arcade Fire, Architecture in Helsinki and The Flaming Lips.

“big wraps indeed, but not too far off the money.” – artsHub

Their energetic and mischievous live performances have taken their music to sold out shows across Australia, sharing stages with the likes of Stornaway (UK), The Tom Fun Orchestra (CAN), The Tiger and Me and Mark Lang (Skipping Girl Vinegar). Recent notable shows include blowing Sydney crowds away at the Basement at the Popboomerang Records rarities launch and atop various stages at the Port Fairy Folk Festival.

“Live, The Bon Scotts are something to behold, all sweaty and beautiful, trashy and passionate” – Tim Burke from online music rag, The Dwarf.

Amongst the rubble of 7 instrumentalists, a charismatic union of found sounds, rickety rhythms, folk instrumentation and bellowing choruses is pulled into line by frontman Robert Zimmerman’s endearing satirical voice, examining the hypocrisy of popular culture and what it means to be young.

The band recently received the Arts Victoria: Victoria Rocks – Presentation & Promotion grant and more recently the Australia Council for the Arts New Work grant in order to create and release their follow-up album to their well received 2010 debut, Oddernity.

“The Bon Scotts, besides having the coolest name in music, have also achieved something like Next Big Thing status” – Tony McMahon, Inpress
