about

Blackbirds FC is an Alt.Country band with an acoustic, harmony driven sound and a full-time string section.

Featuring members of The Hollowmen, Helvelln, the Vanda’s and Flicker, Blackbirds F.C. play their own brand of alternative country inspired by the Go Betweens, Gillian Welch, Iron and Wine and Tom Petty.

In case you were wondering the FC doesn’t really stand for anything although it could be Football Club, Folk Collective or even Fuck Cancer depending on the mood of the day.

The band open their account with the Life Science EP - produced by Cameron McKenzie (Horsehead, Mark Seymour) and recorded before the rhythm section of Phil Campbell (drums) and Julien Chick (bass) joined the band. The EP is a prelude to an LP the band are currently working on to follow early next year.

As the EP title suggests the songs are all about living organisms and their interactions - crushing realities, hope and well-worn love.
