Georgia Fields: Blue Sky With A Black Cloud Parade

about

indie-pop chanteuse Georgia Fields released her debut self-titled album to critical acclaim in October 2010.

The record bravely combines the childlike naivety of experimental sounds (such as children’s toys and cordless drills) with timeless strings, brass, and woodwind arrangements. Over two years in the making, the long-awaited album is being heralded as a pocket-sized orchestral wonder.

Thanks to funding from Arts Victoria, Fields was able to recruit a full cast of orchestral musicians for the recording. In November 2010, ‘Georgia Fields’ was featured as Album of the Week for Radio National, Radio Adelaide, and Beat Magazine. Clare Bowditch named Georgia as one of her recommendations for 2011 in The Age, and JMag have jumped on the bandwagon, announcing “Fields is one to watch”.

Since the album’s release, Fields toured the country in solo-mode, appeared on the SBS television show RocKwiz (alongside Normie Rowe), and was specifically invited to perform at The 2011 Apollo Bay Music Festival with her 9-piece ‘Mini-Indie-Orchestra’.

Fields is currently working on her second album, which will see her take a bold new direction in her infamous ‘eccentric pop’ manner.

Praise for ‘Georgia Fields’:

“Our newest musical crush… Fields specialises in cute, vintage-y folk-pop that makes you want to sway in time and sing along when you know the words.”
Frankie Magazine, Australia

“Australia has produced yet another great female singer/songwriter in Georgia Fields... Fields is one to watch.”
Jmag, Australia

“Fields explores the terrain of relationships with a fresh view - this would be a considerable achievement for someone deep into their career, but as a debut it is astonishing. 10/10”
Americana Magazine, UK

“There is something fresh in the hand-stitched romanticism of Ms Fields. It comes from somewhere in the past certainly... There is a charm to this, an honesty without pose.”
Drum Media, Sydney
