The Steinbecks: Sutton Grange

about

Sutton Grange, named after a small town in central Victoria (pop. 150), is a rough country-tinged pop song in which the writer urges his lover not to let him get away with treating her badly in the future. While he envisages a happy life together, watching wattle birds raising their young, the songwriter is aware things could change… “if I turn the other way / cause you sorrow, sadness, pain / don’t let me off lightly / bruise me and fight me,” he implores. (J.Meadows/J.Meadows, 2007)
