Strawberry Hills Forever

about

"Everywhere was music. Everywhere we'd go." In Sydney in 1982, music was everything. Local bands played in local venues, released records on local labels and got played on local radio stations. People supported these bands, socialised at the venues, bought the records and tuned in to the radio shows. Seven nights a week could be spent seeing bands at venues for free. If that wasn't enough, the Hopetoun also ran a “Rock Against Work” weekday lunchtime gig. Music was at the centre of local youth culture. Records, covers, posters, flyers, fanzines, t-shirts and videos. It was a thriving scene open to anyone who had some ideas and the drive to make something happen. Middle aged indie musicians can look back on all of this knowing, that although they might not have made it, they were part of making something special.
