From St Peters To Kings Cross

from John Kennedy: JFK and the Midlife Crisis by Popboomerang

/

about

The story opens with a deaf, dumb and balding middle aged musician looking back to the glory days of Sydney's indie music in the '80's. He reflects on how far he's travelled, in lifestyle if not distance, from the all night benders in Kings Cross to the day to day routine of school drop offs and grocery runs to the Marrickville Metro. This is the only known song in the universe to name check the town of Talbingo, NSW. The title is, of course, a sly reference to a song by a great Australian act that went on to dominate the local rock and pop landscape: Hey St. Peter by Flash In The Pan.
