about

“I liked the film The Rum Diaries but can't really remember this song in it. I came across it on the second Rogues Gallery compilation CD and fell in love with it on a very personal level as our daughter had been born recently and I feel it captures a lot of the unspecific but overwhelming emotion of me wanting getting to know her as she lay in hospital”.

lyrics

Do you remember me/The ocean rolled/Time was slow/We felt an energy
The cock was crowing/The rum was flowing/A mermaid burns to sea
Beyond the sea/I’d long to see/And if you could/Turn where you stood/Would u remember?
So turn the little key/The ocean rolls/Time is slow/Turn the little key/
The cock is crowing/The rum is flowing/The mermaid burns to sea/Beyond the sea/
I’d long to see/I’d long to see/If there's a page for me/A page for me/In your diary.
